From the north to the south passing through the centre, Finistère reserves some pleasant surprises. Nature abounds with beauty, especially when shown off to the full and well maintained. In Brittany, certain private residences along with a few public parks offer sumptuous shows created by a clever blend of flowers and plants.
Among the 'jardins remarquables' (gardens classified as outstanding by the French Ministry of Culture) in southern Finistère, you can admire the Jardin du Prieuré Locmaria priory garden, the Parc Botanique de Cornouaille botanical garden, the Jardin de la Retraite along with the gardens at the Manoir de Kernault and Domaine de Trévarez.
Daoulas Abbey and the Brest National Botanical Conservational Centre make for a very pleasant and informative stop-off before going on to discover other outstanding natural areas further north.
The Jardin Exotique in Roscoff, the Jardin Remarquable George Delaselle on the Ile de Batz and those at the Château de Kerjean in northern Finistère are all an invitation to stroll around and daydream.
